Artist's Description

For my first few years in the park, back in the mid-90s, my office was in Edith Kolb's former bedroom in the historic Kolb Studio. This was the view from my desk, and, needless to say, it gave me a chance to keep an eye (often two) on the canyon all day. This photograph was taken on the outside porch during a lifting spring snowstorm. I would like to think that Emery and Ellsworth Kolb would approve. Contact Mike for sizes larger than 8”x 10”.

Mike Buchheit is a landscape photographer, veteran travel writer, and outdoor educator. His unique images of Grand Canyon and the American Southwest enjoy popularity worldwide. Mikes work was juried into the prestigious exhibit "Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography", which is currently touring the country as part of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Series. Raised beside the Mississippi River in his native Iowa, Mike relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, in the late 80s. His passion for the Grand Canyon backcountry was forged as a counterbalance to the hectic pace of corporate life in the Valley of the Sun.
